Produced in September 1985, this unit was one of the first “Digital Control System,” which was used instead of mechanical tuners. The chassis in this unit is small in comparison to early units and leaves a lot of empty space in the cabinet. In fact, only 25% of the inside of the cabinet is used. The smaller chassis was the result of using integrated circuits. One integrated circuit took the place of 6 to 12 transistors.
