The “Spirit of ’76” Provincial color television featured carved doors that open and push back into the cabinet. Built in 1974, it featured an industry first – the first STARS system. STARS stood for Remote Access Tuning System or RATS. Magnavox did not think that RATS would make for a good marketing name so they reversed the letters to STARS.
